Dennis Prager at UW-Madison

On assignment for Young America’s Foundation, I had the opportunity to photograph Dennis Prager’s lecture at UW-Madison’s Fred Allen Lecture Series. While students, TV crews, and reporters documented the event, a crowd waited outside to protest Prager’s highly conservative ideologies.

WISPIRG in Kenosha, WI

Today I had the opportunity to photograph the Wisconsin Pubic Interest Research Group’s press hearing on fighting the debt trap created by payday loans in Kenosha, WI. Pastor Jonathan Barker and members of his congregation of Grace Lutheran Church Kenosha are fighting to stop the debt trap in their community. Payday loans come with almost 500% interest in Wisconsin and trap people in a spiral of debt. Community Member Lonnie Stewart stood up and spoke, “I brought this receipt to prove a point. They take $4 off every time I cash a check. Everyone in this neighborhood goes there.”

Stephanie Findley of Midwest Construction

Stephanie Findley serves as the Chair of the African American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Milwaukee, Chair of the City of Milwaukee Elections Commission, and since 2012 as the CEO of Midwest Construction. I had the great privilege to photograph her and her team at their new construction site of the West Lawns Garden Project. Her Company, Midwest Construction helps train workers into skilled workers to help alleviate Milwaukee’s poverty levels.
